George Knapp moved to Las Vegas in 1979 and began his journalism career at KLVX-TV Channel 10 as a part-time studio cameraman and production assistant. In 1981, he was hired by KLAS-TV as a general assignment reporter and later co-anchored various newscasts for the station. Since 1995, George has been the chief reporter for Channel 8's I-Team investigative unit. He is renowned for his investigative journalism, particularly on the subject of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). George gained national attention for his groundbreaking reports on the secretive military installation known as Area 51, bringing the enigmatic base into the public eye. His exclusive interviews with Bob Lazar, who claimed to have worked on reverse-engineering alien technology at Area 51, sparked widespread interest and debate about government secrecy and extraterrestrial life. George's investigative reports on UAPs have earned him numerous accolades. He has received five regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and two national Edward R. Additionally, he has won 24 regional Emmy Awards. In 1990, his series about UFOs was selected by United Press International as the best in the nation for Individual Achievement by a Journalist.
