Gary Powers, Jr. Discusses His Famous U-2 Pilot Father And UFOs

At the conclusion of our interview with Gary Powers, Jr., a few days ago at his Cold War Museum near Warrenton, Virginia, I asked if he could say something to his late father, famed U-2 pilot Gary Powers who was shot down in 1960 spying over the former Soviet Union, what might it be?

I also threw out some off-the-wall questions about UFOs (also called UAPs). The subject is topical these days, what with numerous Congressional hearings being held on the subject. Below, in lightly edited form, are Powers’ answers.

Clash: I think you mentioned that your father had an interest in UFOs?

Powers, Jr.: When I was 10, 11, 12, I remember dad being very interested in the UFO phenomenon. He would attend conferences. I remember going to some office near our house where UFO pictures were all over the walls. They were probably investigating something. So dad did have an interest in it.
